Founder

From intercity buses to the Aigle Azur airline, via the great radio station Europe 1, the legendary Byblos Saint-Tropez and Matra, this exceptional man has left his mark on the business world with his remarkable achievements.

The great-grandson of Sylvain Floirat, Antoine Chevanne took over the management of the holding company in 2006 and implemented a new development strategy focused primarily on luxury hotels, gastronomy and entertainment.

Birth of Sylvain Floirat (founder of Groupe Floirat).

1927

Creation of Cars Floirat.

1947

Creation of Aigle Azur Aviation.

1955

Takeover of Europe 1.

1967

Purchase of Le Byblos et les Caves du Roy in Saint-Tropez.

1981

Sylvain Floirat is appointed administrator of the Hachette Filipacchi group.

1983

Extension work at Le Byblos, almost doubling its surface area.

1984

Opening of a 2nd Byblos hotel, in Courchevel (later closed in 2007).

1988

Sylvain Chevanne, grandson of Sylvain Floirat, takes over the operational management of the group.

1993

Death of Sylvain Floirat – Sylvain Chevanne assumes control of Floirat Signatures.

2001

Antoine Chevanne, great grandson of Sylvain Floirat, becomes the General Manager of Le Byblos in Saint-Tropez.

2002

Launch of a new culinary concept, “Spoon” by Alain Ducasse, at Byblos Saint-Tropez.

2004

Acquisition of the Group’s first 4-star hotel: La Réserve de Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

2006

Antoine Chevanne took over the management of the holding company in 2006 and implemented a new development strategy focused on luxury hotels, gastronomy, and entertainment.

2007

Inauguration of the first Sisley Cosmetics at Byblos de Saint-Tropez.

2009

Le Byblos is awarded its 5th hotel star.

2010

Acquisition of the Group’s third hotel: Les Manoirs de Tourgéville.

2012

Award of the prestigious “Palace” label to Le Byblos.

2013

Launch of Rivea by Alain Ducasse, another new culinary concept at Le Byblos (replacing “Spoon”).

2017

50th anniversary of Le Byblos and Les Caves du Roy.

2019

Launch of Cucina Byblos by Alain Ducasse, another new culinary concept at Le Byblos (replacing “Rivea”).

2019

Le Byblos opens its beach on Pampelonne (Ramatuelle): Byblos Beach.

2020

Opening of the new restaurant Arcadia, by the pool.

2023

A complete refurb for the Byblos by Sisley Spa dedicated to well-being and beauty, completely redesigned with the creation of a holistic program, the first of its kind in luxury hotels.

2024

Inauguration of the 4 new signature suites by the architectural designer Laura Gonzalez at Byblos.

2025

Inauguration of the new Italian restaurant “Il Giardino”, opening of the brand new rooftop “Sky Bar” and complete refurb of the B.Lounge by the Byblos swimming pool in Saint-Tropez.
